Birchip Senior Citizens organized an excersion to Lake Tchum for the Club's birthday on Tuesday 20th April. A picnic Lunch was purchased from Sharps Bakery and at 11-30 they boarded the Community Bus and their cars and headed off for a day out. Upon arrival they set up their picnic in one of the shelters and proceded to indulge in a very tasty lunch of Party Pies and Sausage Rolls, Pizza and Sandwitches. For Sweets there was lots of very sweet stuff including the famous Vanilla Slices plenty of cakes and slices and icecream.

The Seniors took part in a host of activities such as paddling in the lake going for walks picking mushrooms takeing photos and some even enjoyed a second childhood rideing on the funky animals in the playground.

Very suddenly the Sky Became dark and the word was that it was time to leave the rain started while the bus and cars were being loaded but stopped just after they left the lake

They returned to the clubrooms and had no sooner settled down to a nice cup of tea when the rain came and down and it poured. Back to town just in time.

The Birchip Seniors are keeping busy with their regular meeting days,lunches and computer courses.On Tuesday,May 25th,they enjoyed a barbecie lunch and a visit from the Agnews for afternoon tea. The guests were expected to join the seniors for lunch but due to a misunderstanding they went elswhere but managed to get back in time to enjoy a nice cup of tea at afternoon tea time

Jarrod and Belinda Agnew, Bob and Ellen Darby's grand children were accompanied by their children Lara and Jack who are Bob and Ellen's great grand children.The Agnews are from Canberra and were visiting Birchip and Swan Hill on their way home from Port Fairy where they attended Jessica Bragg's wedding.

There were a Large number of Seniors present at the Meeting on Tuesday afternoon but also plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained includeing Carpet Bowls Snooker and Cards.Other activities currently being undertaken by the Seniors are Bingo and the computer courses so you can see that they are kept very busy.Also the new garden is being worked on which includes some badly needed safety improvements sutch as a ramp into the sick room and filling in the gaps in the concrete drive.Also more concrete near the main entrance to allow the bus to be able to pull up closer to the door

 

 

 The Birchip P-12 school V.C.A.L class, along with the Birchip Historical Society held an opening of the Birchip Historical Museum on the 30th of March.For this project ,Branden Atkinson organized and cooked a Barbeque and together with Elaine Mc Callum arranged the function.

The function consisted of an opening of the hall records and museum,many of the older people enjoyed seeing the new exhibits of things that they had used when they were children growing up and even some of the things that they remember that their parents had used as well.

The hall of records is not always open and was a great delight for many of the 30 people who attended to look at.At about 8pm everyone adjourned to the office for supper. Mr Warren King thanked everyone for attending and showing their support for the Birchip Historical society

Branden would very much like to thank all those who did attend and helped make it a very enjoyable night.

 The Seniors June 8th Lunch Meeting and Activities Day was very well attended also there was a number of apologies so interest in The Senior Citizens is growing.The Activities went well with everyone takeing part.There was Pool, Cards and Carpet Bowls it was a very long and enjoyable day lasting from 11-30am until 4-15pm.More Activities have been planned and will be posted on the web when they have been finalised.  The Seniors monthly barbecue was held on the 28th of September and was well attended. An added attraction was George playing his Organ to entertain everyone.
